Happy June, everyone! I love, love, love summer! I love the heat and I love the sun, so I am a happy camper these days! I can't be outside enough during these sweet summer days. =) 

Last weekend we hopped on the motorcycle and took a trip south to what has become an annual trip for us to Missouri Star Quilt Company. This was our 4th visit to this famous quilt city and it never disappoints. I went with a plan this time and chose my purchases carefully.

My stash is severely lacking in two colors. Yellow and orange. I found a nice amount of yellow to add, but the orange is still an issue. I am sure I will find more options when I visit other shops on our travels this summer. 

I also picked up a couple of templates. I have plans for them, but you will have to wait to see. =) 

This year I am determined to make a red, white and blue quilt. One block done, 19 more to go! This one finishes at 12".  

I am normally not this organized, so I impressed myself by getting all the blocks cut out and in stacks. I just need to start sewing. It would be nice to have it done by the 4th of July, but lets be real. ;-D

Happy summer, everyone!! Mine has been fun so far, how about you? 

Russ and I spent the last two long weekends traveling on the trike. The weekend of the 4th, we took off to northern WI to see Lake Superior. 

This last weekend was Rusty's birthday weekend, so we took off on a Friday and headed to Hamilton, MO, the home of Missouri Star Quilt Company. Such a cool place to visit!! I would show you my purchases, but they are being shipped. Lets just say a lot of Cotton + Steel are making their way home to my stash. =) Oh, Russ bought fabric, too, so I can make him a quilt. The motorcycle quilt I made Russ for Christmas (that I never shared on my blog! *gasp*) was given away to a dear friend of his, who has now passed away. He wants me to make him another one. The one thing about traveling on a bike is you have to really be  selective on what you purchase because room is limited. I keep hinting we need to pull a trailer, but Russ isn't picking up what I am putting down...Yet!

The next couple of days we spent riding on the Lowes Hills Scenic Byway. It was so beautiful! You can learn more about Lowes Hills here. The following pictures were taken high up on a ridge. I love seeing the flat farmland up against the bluffs. 

In the last couple of weeks, I was able to grab a day to get a baby quilt done. Two charm packs + the disappearing nine patch pattern = fast and fun baby quilt. =) I had fun quilting this one, too. I did two spirals. One with blue thread and one with green and I had them over lap. The outside edges of the quilt were then echo quilted around the two spirals. One side with yellow thread and the other with red. You may be able to see it if you click not the pictures to make them larger. 

Now I need to get busy and begin working on a shop sample.

My pile of quilts to have on hand for when I need a quick gift or to donate for a good cause, has dwindled dramatically. And that is a good thing. =) Now I can make some, "just for fun" quilts to get the pile built up again.

Does anyone else have a hard time opening up new jelly rolls? They are so cute! This Moda jelly roll by April Cornell is called Nostalgia. It has been sitting in my stash for far too long. It was time to open her up.

 I used the tutorial by Missouri Star Quilt Co (video below) to make this 53" x 53" top. I am debating on adding borders to make it a big larger. I need to let it marinate for a bit. The one thing I did differently from the tutorial is I used 5 strips in my strip sets instead of 4.

This last year, I have been so blessed by kind hearted friends. Homemade gifts, fabric and kindness have been poured upon me and I am far overdue to pass that kindness forward. I am going to go through my stash and have some giveaways. I have fat quarter bundles (full and partial), some yardage and who knows what else, that need to go to good homes. Thats my big goal for today, to go through everything and see what I can share with you all. =) Keep checking back, okay?

My first project with Wilma. =) A small table topper using one mini charm pack of Moda Printemps by Three Sisters and the Falling Charms tutorial by Missouri Star Quilt Company. Love this machine! It takes some getting used to, just like driving a different car. It works the same, but it feels different. The more I play with her, the more comfortable I am with her.  

Also, today I received my first issue of Block by Missouri Star Quilt Company. They call it a magazine, but it is really a book. I am impressed. The quilt on the cover is calling my name. =)
