Only two things which I am sure of

June 30, 2009

When I was young, I was sure of many things.
But now that I am old, there are only two
things which I am sure of:

One is that I am a miserable sinner!
Secondly, that Christ is an all-sufficient Savior!

He is well taught--who learns these two lessons.

"This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full
acceptance: 'Christ Jesus came into the world
to save sinners'--and I am the worst of them!"
1 Timothy 1:15

(Letters of John Newton)

100 things about me update

From my 100 Things About Me post:

#69- I wish I could find my high school friend, Ronald Johnson.

I found him today! :o)

Burned alive for the cause of Christ

I'm trying to imagine such horror. I think about persecution quite a bit. In the present climate of our nation, I fully expect to be persecuted for my faith, if God deems me worthy of such an honor, however I worry that I will bring shame to Him. John Piper's message in this clip helps me to remember that His mercy is new every morning and he will provide the grace that I will need.

Kind of bored...Shhhh...

Don't tell my boys because the rule at our house is, if they say they are bored, then I find work for them to do. Shhhh....I have many things I could be doing. Sewing projects that need finished, a house with a few dust bunnies running around, a garden that could stand a bit of weeding, instead I am sitting here not doing anything of major importance.

Okay...that's enough. I'm going to go get something done today, even if it's only cleaning up the dog do-do in the yard. Now that sounds like fun! NOT! ;o)

In the beginning GOD...

Robins' eggs

I found robins eggs under our tree the other day. As first I was afraid to look at them too closely just in case they had fallen out of the tree due to the bad storm we had and the babies had perished, but after looking closer, it was obvious they had hatched. I had to get my camera and take a picture. I love the color of robins eggs.

RSTIMHT

I freely admit it...I am spoiled! This hot summer Thursday, I present to you my new toy...

...a pen tablet by Wacom called Bamboo Craft. This thing is amazing!! It's so much easier to draw and to touch up photos with the pen. I had no idea things like this existed (yes, I live under a rock) until I read about them in my Photoshop Elements Missing Manual book while on vacation. As soon as I got home, I got busy doing research and found this one to be the one that would be a good fit for me. After Russ gave me the go-ahead (and reminded me how spoiled I am) I ran, (okay, I really drove) to Best Buy and purchased one. Set up was super easy and I was able to use it efficiently almost right away! The pen seems awkward at first, but it didn't long at all and I found it to be super easy to use. The pen gives you much better control for fine detailed work. I also love that the mouse is cordless. It only works while on the tablet, so basically, the tablet is my mouse pad. Among other things, bundled up in the package it comes with Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 6.0!! This is great for those wanting to get into working with Photoshop.

Here are a couple of examples of the work I did with my pen tablet.

Promise

June 24, 2009

After the storm blew through, look at the work of art God created for us....It was a perfect rainbow where we could see it end to end. I wish I had a better camera that could have caught it's full majesty.

Thank you, Father, for being a FAITHFUL God. One that ALWAYS keeps promises. One that is TRUSTWORTHY and TRUE.

And I think Mitchell talks a lot! Whew!

Uncomfortable

June 19, 2009

The following videos are about difficult truths about the God of the Bible. They were truths that I struggled, fought and wrestled with a couple of years ago. I don't understand it all and I freely admit, some of them still make me uncomfortable, but I can not deny what the Scriptures teach.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

Ut oh!!! Look at what I found! Brooklyn's "socks" book! I was supposed to mail it back to her before I left on vacation, but with the craziness of the packing and getting ready to go, I completely forgot until yesterday! Yikes!

Sorry, Brooklyn! I'll mail it when my SUV is fixed. :o)

I'm home!

June 15, 2009

We had a fabulous week at Lake Rathbun camping and hanging out with our friends, Vic and Rhonda. I slept most of the first day. I was plum tuckered out, I guess. The weather wasn't the best, but I didn't mind. It gave me an excuse to hang around the camper and work on learning more about Photoshop. It was nice to not have any distractions, like laundry, dishes and other household chores. I could literally feel the stress drain right out of my body.

A sad time on our vacation was when Vic and Rhonda had to say good-bye to their faithful beagle, Holly. I was glad I could be there as support. She was a wonderful dog and will be greatly missed.

A funny...Reagan told me I ought to put up some of my hair and leave some down to show my undercoat. I explained that our dogs have an undercoat, not me! LOL!

All in all it was a good time, however, I think Dorothy had it right, there is no place like home. :o)

Busy days...

June 3, 2009

I am so far behind on visiting my dear friends' blogs.

Hello! *waving* I haven't forgotten you!!

This week we are busy getting ready for our camping vacation and next week will be the vacation, so my blog will be quiet.

A small piece of good news for me is I am feeling so much better. I'm not tired all the time! Either the supplements I am taking are working, or it's all in my head. :-P No matter. I'm grateful!

Sue, Life is the Lemonade You Make, will appreciate this....Sims 3 is awesome!

Talk with you all soon!! :-D
