A Do Over

June 24, 2014

After I made this wall hanging, I knew I had to redo the embroidery. The letters were too chunky and bugged me. A do-over had to happen.

Tick-tock...

Two years later, I finally got it finished. So much better...

Next up, get the binding on Naomi's quilt, then I can show it to you. =)

Have a happy Tuesday!

Dolly quilt ready to go

April 12, 2012

I'm getting ready to pop it into the mail today.

Isn't the back wild?! I bought the scrap at a garage sale last year.

I see myself doing more stitching in the future. =) It's very relaxing.

Thank you all for your kind words. =D

Now to get back into the swing of things after losing two days because of a dumb migraine.

Dolly Quilt

April 11, 2012

Easter Sunday found me resting and working on this small quilt. It's my practice piece for hand quilting. The small quilt really had no purpose other than to just have fun with it...

That is until Jenna, my grand neice spied me sitting in the corner working on it.

Jenna is a shy little girl of 5 or 6 and only one of two girls in our family. My mother in law had to wait for great grandchildren to get her girls. =)

She sat up next to  me and asked me what I was doing. I explained I was doing some quilting on this small quilt. She asked me what it was for and I told her I didn't know...I asked her if she liked it and she said, "Oh, yes!" I asked her if she had any dollies that needed a blanket. She thought for a minute. She said, "I have some blankets, but I would like another one." I thought it was sweet she didn't want to lie and yet wanted to let me know she really wanted this one.

Of course I told her she could have it when I was finished with it.

A silly migraine this week has put me behind in getting it done, but I have made this a priority. We can't have Jenna's babies getting chilled now, could we?

With my Christmas money, I purchased a Barnett Laptop hoop. This is my first time using it. I L.O.V.E it! I bought the one with the sit on laptop base, but it comes off so it can be used with or without, depending on your needs. I am very pleased with my purchase and will use it for years to come. =)

Stitching Time

June 5, 2011

Before I show you the new clock, I want to share the link where you can get your own studio to stitch for yourself. It was created by the very talented Madame Samm

Okay...New clock time! {ahem} Before:

After:

Notice...I did some stitching, too. =) I could get into this, I think.

Precious Handiwork

June 29, 2010

On Saturday, a dear saint in the Lord from our church, Mildred Frantz, was laid to rest. I had no idea she was an avid quilter. The whole church was filled with her beautiful work. I stole borrowed a camera and took a few pictures so I could share them here with you...All hand quilted. No rotary cutters. Amazing. I later found our her husband would cut all the pieces out for his wife. They enjoyed that pastime together during the cold winter months. It makes the quilts all that more precious to me.

I took mostly pictures of blocks, because I was fascinated on how they were made and wanted to study them later.

The hexagon one is my favorite! {sigh}

This one is my other favorite. I love the fabric choices and colors.

A close up of her work...

Found one more picture...Now I have got to go! VBS is this week and I am on nursery duty with 12 babies under the age of 2!
