For those who follow me on Instagram, this is a repeat of what I have been up to the last few days. =) 

Erin Jensen and hazel stitches, are the two ladies that began the Shortcake Quilt along and it's happening on Instagram. You can search for it using #shortcakealong. The pattern is called Shortcake by Cluck Cluck Sew and it is a beginner friendly quilt. I love how easy and fun this quilt was to put together. 

These are the A blocks. 

These are the beginning of the B blocks. 

I was up way too late getting it put together, but I couldn't wait to see it all finished! When I had both the A and B blocks all finished, I sewed them in pairs and then laid them out to see how to do the final layout. I was a little stressed about the bold navy block. 

Here it is all put together! The blue block doesn't bother me so much anymore. I chose to make the twin size which took a 1 jelly roll and 15 extra strips. I dug out Bliss, Scrumptious and Ruby I had in my stash to add to it. I have the back all ready to go. A while back I bought some Scrumptious yardage from Donna's Lavender Nest and there was just enough. Love it when that happens! 

For now, I need to let it sit. I have some secret Christmas sewing to get to and another store sample to make. =)

I have been following Elizabeth ever since I first starting quilting. She is so very talented and inspiring. I have been itching to make a modern quilt for a while now, so this is perfect! I have more fun working on more challenging quilts when there is a group doing it together. It's a great way to meet new friends, as well. =)

The last block for the Quilty Fun Quilt Along was posted today. I got busy right away so I could get the top together. 

I am so happy with how well it turned out! All my fabrics were from my scraps, with only a few exceptions. Next week, Lori@ Bee In My Bonnet will share how to add the pretty pieced border. I have to decide what to use for that part. =) 

Now this is one happy quilt! =)

Yesterday Donna posted the first block in the sampler quilt she is hosting. 

Quilt-a-longs are so good for me because I am forced to make new blocks that I otherwise wouldn't try. I am a lazy quilter. I like easy. For my sampler quilt, I am going to use my precious Bonnie and Camille fabrics.

Russ and I don't always see eye to eye when it comes to fabric styles. He likes the more earthy/muted tones, while I love color, color, color can't get enough color. Today, however,  we both agree  Flea Market Fancy is a beautiful fabric collection that fits both of our styles. It's both earthy and colorful. Perfection. 

That's when the accident on purpose happened. Russ asked if I could get more of this fabric to make sure I would have enough for the Farmer's Wife Quilt. Within 30 minutes, I had more on order. Etsy is a wonderful place. Just saying...

Now that the decision has been made on what fabric I'm going to use for the FW quilt , the next decisions are....

• When to start? 
• Who wants to do this with me?
• And how to organize it all? 

It sounds like a lot of you also have wanted to make the quilt but for one reason or another, it hasn't happened and that's only counting the ones that spoke up. I used to co-own/co-manage a homeschooling forum. I know a lot of people lurk. *waving to my shy friends*

The thing is, I consider myself to be an idea person. The organizing and dealing with details is where I fall short. If Russ were awake, he would shout a hearty, "AMEN!" Not that I can't, it's just not my strength. That said, I am willing to do a quilt along/support group or whatever. I know I would have more fun if I had others who were doing it with me. For right now, I am open to ideas on how to do this (am I making this more complicated in my mind than I need to?). When would you all like to start? Right away or after the 4th of July?  I did create a Flickr page, so we can share our blocks if you all want to and we can chat there about stuff. Do we want to make 2 blocks a month or two a week or what? Or, shall we let everyone do their own thing and be cheerleaders for each other, whether someone does one block a week or one block a month.

I was smart enough to listen to you wise ones and take the time to tear it apart to remake it. 

I am very glad I did!

The final measurement of the quilt is 38" x 38" and the fabrics used are scraps of Sunkissed by Moda left over from the Block- A- Palooza quilt along.

I am very glad I did!

The Block-a-palooza ended last week with three layouts to choose from. 

I chose the on point layout since I had never tried it before and because this quilt had me out of my comfort zone many times over, I figured it was the best way to bring it to a close. But, I also wanted to do some applique...

So I made some flowers...

...and added them to the yellow squares.

I gave myself a blog makeover. I needed a change. I reserve the right to change it half a dozen more times until I am sure I am satisfied, but I think I am...Maybe...

I practiced on Miss Fun Quilter this morning. We aren't friends yet, but we are better acquainted. It's a start.

I finished a couple of blocks for the Block-a-palooza. I need go see the one posted for today.

The mailman brought me some fabric I bought on clearance. Love the Jane Pindots!

I finished both tulip quilt tops. 

This one is for me.

This one is for my friend. 

The cathedral windows block is taking shape.

I found green polka dot fabric in my stash that works with Sunkissed! It makes the worry of not having enough fabric a little less worrisome. 

I love this block...

The next block is out and it's an easy one! I hope to get it done this afternoon.
