I really have been quiet!

September 6, 2012

I am getting some things accomplished during my quiet time.  =)

The Granny Squares blocks I made a while ago got put together into a flimsy. I used sweet Trish's (Notes of Sincerity) tutorial

It was bigger than I expected, so I made a small baby blanket with some of the squares. I started quilting it, didn't like it and took it apart. Yup, that's how I roll...

I received a gift of 30's fabric by a friend who has asked to remain anonymous. I have some plans for them whirling around in my brain....

I've been working on my Betsy's Closet stitchings. I am less than happy with how this block looks. Jenny of Elefantz shared some tips.

The tips added to this lamp and magnifying glass

has greatly improved the quality of my stitching. Amazing what you can do when you can see!

I may or may not redo the other block. I'll make that decision after all the blocks are finished.

Have a great day, friends...I am thankful for all of you.

Really.

My stitching update and a Betsy's stitch a long

August 13, 2012

I am pleased with how this is turning out. I was struggling with the french knots, so I bought beads to use instead. In the center of the flowers I used amethyst and mother-of-pearl beads. Left overs from my jewelry making days. I ended up deciding to make this a wall hanging and the plan is to have more hand quilting on it than machine quilting. We'll see if I stick to that plan. =) The one thing I would do differently would be to use two strands of embroidery floss for the words instead of the #5 pearl thread.  The words were too small for such a thick thread. I don't hate it, so I left it as it is and am making the mental note for next time. =)

Next up, check out this darling quilt.

Seriously, is it not the sweetest? The pattern is called Betsy's Closet by Brenda Riddle

Jenny and Kathy are hosting a stitch along to make this darling stitchery quilt and anyone can join in on the fun! All the information for the stitch a long can be found here or here. Also, Brenda has some kits made up that you can buy with all that you will need and because I want mine to look just like the picture, I bought one. I cannot wait for it to get here so I can start!

Be sure to come back on Wednesday when I will be sharing my Bowls With Borders project. =)
