Baby Dear

June 28, 2013

Do you remember the book Baby Dear?
It was one of my favorites. I simply love the art work of Eloise Wilkin

Well, the book was the inspiration for my latest quilt that I named...You guessed it, "Baby Dear."

It measures a generous 53 in x 53 in.

I love the backing fabric by Sarah Jane. It is one of the prints from her Children at Play line.

The only thing it needs now is a little girl to love it! =)

Thank you, Michelle, for thinking of me. =)

Commissioned

June 24, 2013

I have been commissioned to make a very special little girl some accessories for her 6th birthday. Yes, my darling Brooklyn is turning 6 next month! From her Grandma Loretta, she is getting an American Girl doll. =) Brooklyn's mommy bought her an Ikea doll bed to go with the new doll and she asked me if I would make a mattress and a quilt for the bed. She requested I use some of the same fabric I used for Brooklyn's quilt for the doll's quilt. Of course I will and I did...All it needs is binding. I need to get some supplies so I can start making mattress.

My other commissioned work was for a gal at church. She and her family are moving back to their home country Mexico to be missionaries. =) She asked if I would make her sisters new make up bags for her to take to them for gifts and told me to do whatever I wanted. So I did! I made fabric out of scraps so they are all the same, and yet, they aren't. I hope they like them. =)

I am thankful to be able to make things for others. =)

Scrappy Trip {flimsy}

June 18, 2013

Oh, yes...It is a favorite. =)

I am naming it Ruby's Bake Sale after the two fabric lines I used to make it. Yup! I am clever like that! ;-)

See my phone shadow? I upgraded to the iPhone 5 a couple of weeks ago. My camera has stayed tucked in the drawer ever since then.

 Have a happy week!!

Mini Blog Hop Featuring the Lola Collection by Blank Quilting

June 10, 2013

Introducing the new line by Blank Quilting called Lola. I am featuring the neutral color way of this pretty line.

I bought a new ruler that has been waiting for the perfect fabric and project to be put to use, the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star ruler by Debbie Tucker. Great ruler, by the way. The Lola fabric line was a wonderful choice to put the ruler to use for the first time and it did not disappoint. I think the Lemoyne Star makes this fabric sing and when the skinny quilt is finished, it will look lovely hanging on my front door for the fall season.

I'll post more pictures of my skinny quilt when I get it all quilted up. =)

Make sure you go see what Debby @Debby Kratovil Quilts and Linda @Buzzing and Bumbling created using Lola.

Have a happy week, everyone!

Gardening

June 4, 2013

Once upon a time, I had a beautiful backyard garden....Until life happened.

This was the year to redo the whole thing. What a huge job, but so worth it!

We added landscape fabric this time around.

Plants got dug up and moved to other garden areas of our front and side yard to clear the space for the landscaping fabric.

We ended up using 85 bags of mulch.

Our little helper. =) His parents were dismantling the swing set on the other side of the yard to take to their house.

The finished views...

Next spring, I will separate this clump of flowers and spread them out in the garden. They are so big now, I hate to disturb them....

The back garden has been such a mess for the last three years. I am so glad to have it under control and looking pretty again.

For my very own....

June 3, 2013

Yesterday, dear friends came a knockin' on my door bearing gifts....

I have dreamed of owning a Singer 401a...

Michelle and Louie @ Life with Lou made my dream come true...

I can't thank you enough, Michelle and Louie, for this wonderful gift....Nor for the precious gift of your friendship to Russ and me. We love you both....
