It's all done!
Before I let the pictures do most of the talking, I want to share that I used a batting I hadn't tried before called Quilters Dream Wool. I will absolutely use it again. It was amazing to work with and I love the loft that the batting gave this quilt! I hope you can see it okay in the pictures.
This block I messed up, so I changed the center. One of the many reasons why this quilt was done "my way." ;-)
The orange block is one of my favorites!!
I changed the colors of the thread to match the fabric instead of using one color for the whole quilt. I have never done that before. I usually don't want to take the time. I am so glad I did!!
I replaced the 24" block in the pattern with the Swoon block. For those who have followed me for a long time, you know how I adore the Swoon block...
Almost the whole time I was quilting it, I worried that I was "ruining" it. Tell me I am not alone with those worries! I ripped out stitches and redid them several times until I felt I got it right. Now that it's done, I feel good about it. =)
On to the next project!! =D
Have a happy Thursday!!
Amy, what a Treasure Quilt!! Love this absolutely beautiful quilt. No, you are not alone. I really try to enjoy all the stages of making a quilt, but each time I come to the quilting part - I'm scared I will ruin all the beautiful blocks I toiled over. You did an amazing job with the quilting and I love how you put all the color fabrics together for each block and the special inserts!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful! So no I don't think you ruined it. I am the same way. Every time I buy a pattern I have to change a least one little thing so it will be the way I like it. Nothing wrong with that. Congratulations on the finish.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! And I especially love that you made it your own. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt! I'm always afraid I'll ruin one of my quilts, machine quilting it, since I don't free motion. By the end, I'm just happy that the quilt is finished. I like the quilting you did.
ReplyDeletei love it , i though that was the way you were suppose to do a quilt, makes it your's
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great! When you changed thread colors, did you also change the bobbin or leave it the same color?
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely! And I think its wonderful you changed thread colors. You made it your own and that makes it more treasured.
ReplyDeleteTurned out fabulous. Love your quilting, and how you changed the pattern up. I have this on my to do list very soon. Great quilting, you did a wonderful job. You are keeping this one right?
ReplyDeleteJust fabulous!!!!
ReplyDeleteAmy this is just gorgeous! Your quilting is perfect. I worry about messing up my quilts with quilting too, and I'm still just doing straight line quilting. :) I get in a hurry and make "organic" lines. Then I kick myself later for not just taking my time to make them more "measured". Live and learn I guess. I love quilters dream wool too. I make lap duvets out of them and they're so fluffy and lovely. I want to try quilters dream cotton sometime. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh, Amy.....it's FABULOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteI love how you changed the thread colors. PERFECT!
Blessings~
Laura
Amy it's PERFECT - I absolutely love the quilting, the colors, just exquisite my dear! Well done!
ReplyDeleteYou did wonderful work again, Amy. I've got to quilt my Piano Quilt and admit to being a little bit terrified of mucking it up! Think I'll change my thread colours too - that'll help - great tip, thank you :)
ReplyDeleteMe encantan los colores de las telas que has elegido, y más me encanta el acolchado. Te ha quedado ideal
ReplyDeleteBesos
This came out so amazing! I wish I had made one when the designs came out.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching you create this quilt over the last several months and I absolutely love it! I love how it turned out and you really actually can see the lovely loft in that batting. Everyone keeps talking about that batting, apparently I need to get on the band wagon! That is going to be one great quilt to snuggle up under with your 4EVER! :o)
ReplyDeleteLove the creative liberties you took with adding Russ loves Amy and all the words. Great job getting this big project done :)
