Oh, yes, I do Dare to Dresden!
These are a few of the Dresden projects I have made over the years.
Can you tell I love making them? =) When Mdm Samm @ Sew We Quilt announced the Dare To Dresden hop, enthusiastically cheered on by Christine @ Quilt Monster in my Closet, I was all in!
Seriously, hasn't this been a fun blog hop?! I have loved all the creative ideas the ladies have come up with to spark my imagination. I can't wait to try one or ten. =)
Of course, you must stop in and see what the rest of the hoppers have to share for today. =)

Here is my contribution for the hop....I hope you like it. =)
Last summer, there was a Dresden Quilting Challenge going on. When I saw Melissa @ Happy Quilting's contribution she called Double Dresden Delight, I knew I had to give it a try. As soon as I made them, I knew they wanted to be flowers.
I lost sleep over this quilt.
I am thrilled with how it turned out. =)
Love the prairie points grass. I was tempted to iron them back flat, but decided grass grows in its own organic way and it was okay to not have perfect grass.
I only have one more thing left to do...That is to give the little lady a name. I would love to hear your ideas! What would you name this quilt?

ReplyDeleteDresdens are fun to make. I have only made one quilt but I would love to make some more dresdens. Love all your projects. I really like the look of the center of your flower dresdens. I am not good with names but for some reason as soon as I saw the flower quilt it reminded me of the poppy field in the Wizard of OZ.

I would call it "Dresdens Toward Heaven." It is absolutely a Godly work. I love your clock, too. All your projects are labors of love. I don't remember the story of sunflowers, but they do turn their Heads toward the sun (Son). ReplyDeleteAwesome quilt! Love the colors you used and the flowers are fantastic. When I saw the quilt I thought of the nursery rhyme that goes...with silver bells, and cockleshells, and pretty maids all in a row. I'd call it "Pretty Maids".

Have you thought of publishing this as a pattern? I would love to make one. I did finish the Betsy's Closet quilt top, so a little headway is good.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! I'm no help with the naming, but applaud your work with the dresden blocks. The double pointed blades in the flowers really adds to the realism.
ReplyDeleteAmy, this quilt is so cute. The grass and blue sky are perfect color choices. The little 3-d grass prairie points are so cute, too. The names "Dresden Garden" and "Dresdon Spring" come to mind. If you made this pattern up, you should market it for Etsy!!!!
