Dresden Plates

March 15, 2011

Pokey@ PokeyDotQuilting is making the most darling dresden plates, which inspired me to make a few myself. When finished, the quilt will go to my mother-in-love, Mathena.

  1. That's beautiful! I love the pointed Dresden Plate blocks more than the rounded ones - I don't know if it's because I think they're easier to make?
This looks like a great stash-busting project too!

  7. Hi Amy,
I think your Dresden blocks are gorgeous and a perfect springtime project. I am waiting for whatever is wrong with my shoulders to ease up so I can do more hand quilting and finish up my latest project.

I have often wanted to do Dresden blocks, but I am chicken about the applique. Is it difficult?

  8. Amy! Those are lovely! I just started a similar Dresden plate (via the sew mama sew blog) but I only have two done. Your quilting productivity is inspiring. Also your ironing board fabric makes a great background for them. Hmmm...
Can't wait to see your finished product!

  9. Thank you for sharing the inspiration, Amy, these are AbsOluTelY gorgeous!! I love your fabric of choice, and look at you, you've put yours together! (I, too, love your background) This will be a wonderful gift to Mom in love. So, do you think you'd do another one? I would....
