Triangles

November 27, 2012

A pile of fabric, mostly Flea Market Fancy, but also some other fabrics from my stash were pulled to add to the mix. I have no idea how many I cut and how big the quilt will be. I'm not big on planning and math, you know, and if I need more I will cut more. =)

I didn't do any big sale shopping over Thanksgiving. The only door buster thing I did do was on Wednesday at Joann Fabrics to get a 25 yard roll of batting by Pellon for $99. I was first in line. It was a good thing, too. The store only had 4 in stock. I was the youngest of the old quilting ladies in line, just sayin. I admit it was rather comical to see us "run" to the area where the batting was stored. I, however, did not run. I do have some sense of decorum, but I did walk very fast. ;-)

Enough talking...The triangles are calling my name. =)

Have a great week, everyone!

  1. I am impressed by your self control at JoAnn Fabrics, don't know that I would have been able to maintain such control. But it paid off and you scored a nice roll of batting at a great price!

    1. I am very pleased with the quality of the batting, as well. =) I have never worked with it before. I would definitely buy it again.

  3. I shopped at Joann on Friday, after noon. I waited until the rush was over. I refused to purchase yardage, since I didn't want to wait in line to get my fabric cut. I did purchase some fat quarters, and another case for another sewing machine. Gee, $90 case for $22.50. My kind of deal.

  4. Those triangles look like Kaleidoscope angles. Is that right? Or Tri-Recs triangles? I can't wait to see what you sew. As far as planning and math - I only do that AFTER I start sewing. My motto: sew until you run out of fabric. That's what the fabric wanted to be and I never argue. Though I have been known to tear my sewing room apart looking for that one elusive scrap to finish one last block. And cut up sample cards from fabric companies to get one more patch (did that yesterday - there is a God in the heavens!)

  6. Great post Amy. I tried to buy one of the Ott lights that was advertised, but they were all gone. They probably only had 4 as well ;-)

  7. Can't wait to see what you are sewing. I bought a gift online about 9 pm Friday. Got a great price and no shipping. I was happy. That was the extent of my 'black friday' deals.

  8. Can't wait to see what you make with your triangles. Great deal on batting too!! I thought my deal was good for queen size warm & natural for $16 a piece.

You know me-math's my thing & one of the good things about learning to quilt is getting to crunch those numbers. We could be a duo-you sew & quilt & I do all the number crunching and figuring! :)

  9. So pretty! I would just keep them in a stack on my desk forever and think of them as art. :-)

  10. I missed JoAnn's until after lunch so I didn't get to use my additional 25% off. Sigh . . .

  16. Good for you on the batting. I chuckled picturing ladies "moving quickly" toward the 4 rolls of batting! I try to avoid Joann's since I always spend money I don't have!
