Fall is here!

October 5, 2017

Fall is not my most favorite season, summer is, but I have to admit, fall is a beautiful season and it has been especially so this year. I just need to get over grieving the loss of summer. πŸ˜‰

Last fall, I purchased two Primitive Muslin flannel layer cakes to make a fall quilt and sewed them up very simply to make a cuddle quilt for the couch. Now that fall has rolled around again, I knew I had to get it finished so it could be used! It's all wrinkly because it has already been nap tested. It passed. 😴

I wish the back fabric showed the gold metallic sparkle. I have been collecting gold metallic fabric lately. No plan, just kinda love it! Not my norm at all. =)

To continue the fall theme, I got to make a sample using a new Hoffman fabric line called All A Twitter. It is stunning! The pattern is by New Leaf Stitches.  When it comes back from the quilters, I will take a picture of the whole quilt. I really love it!.πŸ˜„

I have also been sewing lots and lots of grocery bags using the pattern by Michelle Patterns. Our church participates with Operation Christmas Child and I thought they would be a great gift for the children and they fold/roll up nice and small. They are fun and easy to make. 😊

Thank you for stopping by!

  1. Your one-block quilt will be really comfy on your couch, and it turned out really pretty. I love the half-square frame around the birdie, with the stars as an extra. I don't recall ever seeing one like that before. Of course the kids will love the little bags. That's a great idea too! ---"Love"

  2. Beautiful flannel quilt - and I love the backing!! I love my Fall - maybe it is the cozy feeling the cool days bring on, with soups and stews simmering away on the stove. Love the bags you made - cute, and super useful. What a beautiful quilt for your shop sample. Love how the friendship star blocks surround the center bird panel.

  3. Wow your cuddle quilt looks so rich and luxurious. Cute block, love the little bird but the friendship stars are kind of cool too. Love that shopping bag pattern. I have used it to make a bag out of the heavy plastic chicken bags too.

  4. Love your new quilt, I could use it right now, lol! Summer is my fave too - autumn seems filled with mourning to me. Of course, most of my family died in autumn, so that doesn't help....
That birdie is just darling. I need to make some shopping bags, I have an easy pattern for them, just not enough fabric...maybe I could make a big enough patchwork piece!

Thank you for the link to the shopping bags. A great idea to include them in Operation Christmas Child boxes!

  6. Hi! Vising from Connie's blog. What a pretty vibrant cuddle quilt. I am making a cuddle quilt and was looking for a poem to go with one when it is gifted to someone. Maybe saying something about the warmth and love. Haven't find one yet but will keep trying. Enjoy your Sunday! Nancy

  7. LOVE the little bird, and the fabrics in that block(?)! The bags are a great idea too - useful no matter how old or young the children are...

  8. I love the bird fabric and the quilt block you made with it. I would love to have a kit for that quilt but I do live a ways away. The bags are great for Operation Christmas Child, we are participating in that at our church but I have not time for sewing before then. I will have to plan ahead next time.
