Painting day

July 13, 2009

Today, Reagan and I are going to paint his room. Reagan has Holden's old room that he painted a deep barn red. We are changing it to a blue (exact shade yet to be decided). Today's goal is to get the primer on and go shopping for the final paint color. Depending on how long that all takes, maybe we can get the final color on the walls by tonight.

I'll post some before and after pictures later. :o)

*****

Before....
First coat of primer.

Two coats of primer done...

The final coat of paint! I really like the shade of blue he picked out.

All walls painted...
As soon as Russ gets the window trim done, we can add the curtains and window shades. His new comforter is brown and white, so the "theme" is brown and blue." The room will look better tomorrow after his furniture is arranged and the new bedding is on his bed.

I can't wait to paint MY room!! I was thinking PINK! LOL!

See you after the big birthday bash!

Things In my House Thursday

RSTIMHT

Welcome to the room that Mitchell said is clean. He said it with a tone that clearly conveyed I was nuts to even suggest it needed some attention.

I'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves.

When Mitchell saw the picture of his closet, he did admit that it was messy and needed cleaned up.
You think??

On to the spare bedroom we turned into a TV/Wii room for the boys. It looks like Mitchell's room needed a spillway...

He wants me to make sure you all know he is in the middle of a project...I wonder why it has looked like this for the last 6 months???? It's a long project, I guess.

*Disclaimer: The owner of the room(s) is fully aware of the existence of these pictures and of this post that is being shared today. No toys, hangers, dirty undies or dirty dishes were placed in the rooms by the photographer (me).*

Disclaimer #2: I LOVE my son, even though his room is messy...All the time...

Come join MommySweetMom for Things In My House Thursday and share the things in your
house!!

Way up yonder

My daughter, the dare devil. I mean, seriously...She used to ride down the steps in a laundry basket. She used to jump off the roof of my mom's garage onto a mattress. And those are only two example of the numerous dare devil things she did and I'm sure there are more that's she hasn't told me about!!

Okay, but now she has taken her daredevil ways to a whole new level.

UP! ^

HIGH! ^^

Whoa!! I get dizzy just looking at these pictures.

Haley with her sweet husband, Jason...with their feet planted firmly on the earth, where they ought to stay!!

Jason cautioning Haley to watch her step.

The crane floor...*shudder*

Jason at the top! He does this every day. Can you imagine??

Jason looking over the city.

Haley at the top of Jason's crane tower....

*Haley emailed me to tell me this crane was 200' tall. The ones that Jason worked with in Vegas were 700' tall!

Death is not dying

July 6, 2009

*I just got done watching Rachel's talk...I was right. It's a must see. Go some place quiet and watch this video. You will be richly blessed...*

I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm gonna. I have a feeling it needs to be seen by more than just me. BTW, I got the link from Tim Challies' A La Carte post. Have you added him to your list of blogs to read yet??

After four and a half years of vigilantly fighting breast cancer, the 37 year old wife and mother of two was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

But for Rachel the essence of life is found in her relationship with God through Jesus. And that's why Rachel is convinced that death is not dying.

On March 4, 2009, what started out as a small talk to a women's group at her church grew into an event attended by 600 women from around Vancouver, giving Rachel an opportunity to share about her hope in the midst of terminal cancer.

Rachel’s honest and thought-provoking talk touched women of all ages and left a hunger for discovering more about Rachel’s journey and the faith that has so deeply affected her life.

Your suffering does not just belong to you

In my email, I received a message from Karen, Brooklyn's other birth grandma. Her dad died suddenly on the 4th. I know the pain of losing a parent and my heart broke for her. Not coincidentally (I don't believe in coincidences. I call them appointments from God), she was in the waiting room of the chiropractor this morning when I got there. I was able to hug her and share in her grief. Please pray for her.

In my inbox when I got home was a fabulous post by Tim Challies. If you do not read his blog, you must begin today. His post today was on suffering. After seeing the suffering in Karen's eyes, it hit home for me in a big way. All of us have suffered in one way or another. All of us, I suspect, have asked, "Why?" Perhaps his post will help you see your suffering a new light...

Thankful for the 1st mom

Thirteen years ago today, a young teenage girl gave life to my son. She was brave to carry him until he was ready to be born and brave to place him with a family to raise him. I am grateful for her acts of bravery. Today, as we celebrate his birthday as a family, I am quietly praying for his birth mom and I honor her for the sacrificial love she had for her baby boy, the boy I get to call my son.
