If I had to pick a favorite block, the Swoon block by Camille @ Thimble Blossoms would have to be it. Now, it's not my favorite block to make. There are a lot of pieces and you really have to pay attention to how they go together, but in the end, it is all worth it. I have made two other Swoon quilts (blogged here and here). I have wanted one for me for a long, long time. I got hung up on what I wanted to use for the fabrics and if I wanted to use a white background or not. I decided to stop over thinking the whole thing, jump off of the fence, and just do it. Last week, I did just that.
It is hard to tell with the inside shots, what I chose to use for the background fabric is pearl pink by Kona. The fabric surrounding the center star is a tone on tone white. *fingers crossed* I hope it looks okay with I get all the blocks finished.
If you have made a Swoon quilt, I would love to see pictures of it. =)
Have a happy day!!
I have my fabric for my swoon but haven't started it yet. I hope to soon, very soon. ;) Yours is to die for, and that fabric is scrumptious!
ReplyDeletePure gorgeousness :) I am hoping to make one for ME in 2014... using my precious Joel Dewberry fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful block and so interesting to see how it varies with fabric & color choices. I have to say, the one with the pink with the white dots in pink really popped out at me. I'll have to look into this one more...it may be in my future :)
ReplyDeleteIt's on my list. I mean, I bought the pattern immediately. But I haven't found the perfect fabric for one for me. But I do love Scrumptious, so I might buy some of that and just dive right in!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh they are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your fabric choices and know that pattern is on my to do list!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you picked!
ReplyDeleteAmy, It's been forever since I've been to your blog. Sorry I've been so busy. But now that I'm here I recognize that fabric! It's the same fabric I'm using for my Terrier Town BOM! I love your Swoon Blocks - these are my favorite ones too.

ReplyDeleteLove your blocks so far!
ReplyDeleteI've had the pattern for quite a while, and finally used it this past summer for a breast cancer support challenge. The pics are here: http://quiltingwithjannette.blogspot.ca/2013/08/my-challenge-quilt.html
I'm going to be making another one soon (I hope!) with a bright lime green and 9 different black and white prints - can't wait 'til I have the time to start it!
Amy, I love the Swoon pattern. I have it but haven't tackled it yet. Yours is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey're looking great! I have Camille's first Craftsy class and I've picked out my materials for a Swoon quilt (Marmalade) but haven't tried it yet. I am in love with the pink & white PKM scattered flower prints (especially the white!). Where did you find them? I've had no luck finding the white one. Good job! Can't wait to see them put together.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Amy. I still can't choose which is my favorite, but I do love the background you selected.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, Amy!
ReplyDeleteyour gray + red = stunning!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the grey ones!! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteThat is a complicated block, but it is pretty too. I see why you like it. Once again, I love those fabrics. :-) Visual happiness. :-)
ReplyDeleteI just love all the different fabrics you are using for these blocks.
