Began a new quilt

April 6, 2009

Searching the web, I found a tutorial for a quilt called the disappearing nine-patch. I thought it looked like fun and something I could do. I'm using the smaller scraps of material that I got from my mom.

Here is the beginning of my new project.

I have a Crazy Shortcut Quilt ready to put together, but I need to decide on what material to use for the sashing. I need to get to the store with a few of the squares and make up my mind.

A precious lamb needs prayer

House Full of Joy

Would you please pray for little Charity? Charity was born with Down syndrome and is extremely critically ill on ECMO.

Please stop by the family blog and let them know you are praying for their precious Charity.

The Key

April 3, 2009

It's not always easy to live with a man who thinks like an engineer. Too literal, if you know what I mean.

In the following conversation, there was no malice, nor any intention of anyone hurting the other's feelings.

Me: Rusty...Do you love me with all of your heart?

Rusty: Probably not, baby...

Me: Oh....

Rusty: I don't think it's Biblical, honey.

Me: Oh, okay...I don't love you with all of my heart either.

*silence for a few seconds*

Rusty: Baby, I love you with all of my heart.

Me: I love you with all of my heart, too....

He might not love me with all of his heart, but I do have the key to his heart...

Twitter weirdness

I am assuming you have heard of twitter. It's been all the rage on the net for quite a while. Once upon a time, I signed up to give it a try. I tried to tweet on twitter, but I feel like a twit sharing things like:

I'm eating a chicken salad sandwich with extra mayo.
Or...

I have a cold and my nose is sore from blowing it all day.
Or...

I'm am totally clueless as to what to say in this thing...
So, I stopped tweeting on my twitter because feeling like a twit is not a good feeling.

Here is where the weirdness comes in. People are still signing up to follow my tweetless twitters. This begs the question...What is wrong with these people!? Besides the fact that they are twits, that is. :D

Childhood Memories Friday

Rs Childhood Memories large

Growing up, there was an unwritten rule that we could raid the change jar on my Daddy's dresser top. It was a a race between my brother and I to get there first.

As I was pondering about this memory I began to dissect it out a bit.

I never took the change if Daddy was in the room. That seemed wrong. He never just handed it to me. So, in essence, I was stealing from him, right?

However, if he allowed it and knew placing the change on his dresser was an open invitation for me to take it, was it really stealing? If he didn't want me to take it, wouldn't he have told me? I need to ask Daddy and get his viewpoint. :)

In my home, we have several change jars. I'm the only one raids them. Old habits die hard, I guess.

Come join us on Childhood Memories Friday.

Presenting my new friend, Nancy.

April 2, 2009

I'd like to introduce you to a new blogger and a new friend of mine, Nancy of Nancy's Tidbits.

Nancy and I discovered last night that we have something in common that is unusual....We are both bone marrow donors!! What is fabulous about this discovery is I have never met anyone else who has donated and she lives fairly close to me. We are going to meet up for lunch at the end of the month. :D

Here are some facts I think are funny, however, it doesn't take much to amuse me. ;)

My recipient's name was Nancy.
Nancy called her recipient "Lu."
My recipient's best friend's name is Mary Lou.
Nancy's husband and Mary Lou's husband have the same name.

Make sure you go visit Nancy's charming blog. :)

Things In My (Momma's) House Thursday

April 1, 2009

RS small TIMHT Photobucket
On to the kitchen...Would you agree that the kitchen is the heart of the home? I know I spent more time in my Mom's kitchen in my life time than in any other room.

Have you noticed that there in never a place in her home that wasn't filled with stuff?? Every nook and cranny had something. You could spend hours looking around and come on another day and see stuff you missed the first time.

Through the doors is an enclosed porch.

I've always loved this yellow cupboard.

Don't you think this belongs at my house!! :D

The backside of the counter. The cookies are made of salt dough. She was into that for a while.

A tucked away corner of her kitchen...More stuff. ;)

A shelf with, you guessed it...More stuff. :D I love the glass jar on the end.

As we leave the kitchen, I leave you with this important reminder:

Come join MommySweetMom for Things In My House Thursday and share the things in your house!!

No way!

I will not allow this to ruin my day... :P
