I could cry

April 20, 2013

I made a quilt for a gift and the backing fabric color bled through to the front of the quilt. I have never had that happen! I soaked it in Synthrapol in hopes it would come out, but no luck.

I guess I need to buy more fabric to make a new baby gift.

I am a little bit heartsick because it turned out so cute. =(

Have you had this happen? What did you do with the quilt?

Annie's Cats

April 15, 2013

The rain finally stopped long enough here in Iowa for me to get pictures of Annie's graduation quilt made with the Laurel Burch fabrics.

I feel certain she will love it! I can not wait to give it to her!

Always and Forever

April 7, 2013

Swoon quilted and delivered to the happy young couple...I am naming this quilt Always and Forever. =)

Their name and wedding date appliquéd on the back.

A slightly better view of the quilting.

I love that I get to make quilts for friends and family...

Laurel Burch: Fabulous Felines

April 3, 2013

Graduation is coming and there is one very special young lady who will graduating from high school this year. I have been thinking and planning her quilt for the last two years. I wanted to make a quilt that was fun and have it include her love of cats. It's hard finding patterns or fabrics that aren't too babyish or too cutesy. I wanted something that was more sophisticated for her to take to college in the fall.

Then I found Laurel Burch's fabric line Fabulous Felines

It couldn't be more perfect!

Her mom requested a triangle quilt. I am going to have a hard time giving this one up. It turned out so amazing! I'll share the final product when I get it quilted....

This is a great video by 60 Minutes on the late Laurel Burch. She was a fascinating lady. =)

He is Risen Indeed

Where art thou, Spring?

March 27, 2013

Because spring is taking her sweet time to get here in Iowa, my hubby bought some spring flowers for me to enjoy.

Yes, he is that sweet to me all the time...

Yes, I spoil him, too...

Off to work on the Swoon quilt!

Swooning again...

March 26, 2013

Before I say anything about what I am working on, I want to take time to thank each and every one of you who have left voice mails, wrote emails, who have prayed for me and for my family. Though the situation between my two older kids has not changed, I feel more at peace and calm. I am fighting to speak truth to myself and not allow the lies to take a foothold. One day, when Jesus returns, all will be put to rights again and I hold on to that very real hope.

Swooning again! This is a wedding gift for a sweet newly wed couple in my church. The bride helped pick a couple of the fabrics and then I went shopping in my stash to finish it up. I chose not to add sashing between the blocks this time.

(You can view my first Swoon quilt here)

The plan is to cut this fabric into a wide 10" strip right down the middle of the pink and add it for borders. I want to make the corners mitered and get the stripes to match up. Yeah, we will see how that goes!

Running away...

March 19, 2013

Without going into details, my two older children are in a situation that has become very toxic and their relationship with each other has been severely damaged. Makes my mother's heart so sad....

SO!

I ran away....Figuratively and literally.

The literal running away:
A couple weekends ago, my hubby and I ran away from home for the weekend and did a little bit of retail therapy. My stash has increased and I bought the Hex N More ruler by Jaybird Quilts

The figuratively running away:
Only skimming emails and blogs. I'll get back to reading and commenting one of these days.
AND! I finished Brooklyn's quilt. The weather here is terrible, so the inside shots will have to do. The pictures will have to be my words for now.

Final measurement: 93" x 82"

Until next time...
